A Little History of the River

Lobster is now being served on the banks of the Union River. In 1996 Brian and Jane Langley opened the Union River Lobster Pot on the site previously known as the Port of Call Seafood Market.

To find Union River Lobster Pot, follow these directions. If you are:

Traveling North on Route 1 from Bucksport, Maine to Ellsworth, Maine:

Look for the yield sign where Routes 172 and 1 merge, travel 150 feet, turn right onto South Street. Look for the river.

Traveling South on Route 1A from Bangor, Maine to Ellsworth, Maine:

Turn right at the light at Dunkin' Donuts in Ellsworth. Follow Main St. / Route 1 South. Go straight, through the set of lights at the intersection of Main and Water Street. Cross the Union River Bridge. While on the bridge, start looking left. Turn left onto South Street immediately after crossing the river.

Traveling North on Route 3 from Bar Harbor, Maine:

Follow Route 3 into Ellsworth. Turn left on to Route 1 / Main St. at Dunkin' Donuts. Follow Main St. / Route 1 South. Go straight, through the set of lights at the intersection of Main and Water Street. Cross the Union River Bridge. While on the bridge, start looking left. Turn left onto South Street immediately after crossing the river.

Traveling South on Route 1 from points east of Ellsworth:

Take Route 1 to Ellsworth. Routes 1 and 3 merge. Follow Routes 1 and 3 into Ellsworth. Turn left on to Route 1 / Main St. at Dunkin' Donuts. Follow Main St. / Route 1 South. Go straight, through the set of lights at the intersection of Main and Water Street. Cross the Union River Bridge. While on the bridge, start looking left. Turn left onto South Street immediately after crossing the river.

How to Eat a Lobster

Meat is found within the claws (large front claws and side body claws), the tail, and within the body where the claws are joined to the body. The tail offers the most meat and is saved until last by many lobster lovers. How does one eat a Maine lobster? In one word ... SLOWLY ... you'll want to savor each bite!
